About / the person

one person, the whole stack.

I'm Shasha, a designer and developer working out of Colombo. I run a one-person practice, which means the person you brief is the person who designs it, builds it, and answers the phone when something breaks.

Most of my work sits in the gap between design and engineering — the place where good ideas usually get diluted. Because I do both, nothing gets handed over and lost. A layout that would be a nightmare to make responsive never gets drawn in the first place. A performance budget is not a nice-to-have discovered at launch; it is a constraint from the first wireframe.

I work directly with founders and business owners, and as a subcontractor for agencies who need a safe pair of hands on design or build. Both are good work. Both get the same standard.

When I'm not billing, I'm writing about the practice or picking apart someone else's interface for sport.

▪ How I think about it
  1. 01

    Speed is a design decision

Performance is not something engineering bolts on at the end. It is decided the moment someone chooses a hero video, a font stack, or a fourth tracking script.

  2. 02

    Clarity beats cleverness

A visitor gives you seconds. An interface that is obvious will out-perform an interface that is interesting almost every single time.

  3. 03

    Say the uncomfortable thing

If a project is not worth doing, or the budget will not reach the ambition, you will hear it from me on the first call rather than in month three.

  4. 04

    Leave it maintainable

The work is not done when it launches. It is done when your team can change it without calling me.
